The term button-down dress is probably not familiar to everyone. But actually the name says it all: a button-through dress has a button closure at the front that runs all the way from top to bottom, just like a jacket. This can be a shirt dress, but denim dresses and safari dresses with a continuous button closure also fall under this category. This type of dress was a favorite in the 1940s, but actually it is of all times, a faithful basic dress. It is useful not to open all the buttons when putting on, otherwise you will keep buttoning... And you can also leave a few buttons open, for a cleavage or split at the bottom.
