Crêpe Georgette
Fabrics
Delicate eye-catcher
Crepe georgette owes its name to a renowned Parisian designer and milliner who was the first to use this fabric around 1912: Madame Georgette de la Plante, a contemporary of Coco Chanel. It is a supple, slightly translucent fabric in a tightly woven plain weave. The weave is denser than regular crepe and has a characteristic crinkled surface. The crepe fabric is ideal for light, airy summer clothes, such as dresses, skirts and blouses. The fine, thin texture makes crepe georgette easy to layer in several layers – perfect for flowing evening or wedding dresses.
