Tassels en cords
The cingulum is the cord, usually white, that is used to fasten the alb of Catholic clergy around the body. Each end typically features a tassel. In some churches, the cingulum has fallen out of use because priests today wear their stole, like bishops, hanging straight down from the neck. In the past, priests wore the stole crossed over their chest, making the cingulum necessary to keep it in place. Sometimes, the cingulum is also made in the liturgical color of the vestments. The cingulum thus holds both a functional and symbolic role, connecting the sacred attire with the spiritual ritual of the church.
