The workwear of bakers has hardly changed over the years and traditional baker's pants have existed for centuries. Usually it is a straight model with a small check in white and dark blue: the baker's check. This motif is not chosen randomly: thanks to the checkered pattern stains are camouflaged. Moreover, it ensures recognisability and shows which function the wearer has. There used to be a strict separation: men worked in the bakery and women in the store to sell the bread. They often wore their own clothes with an apron on top. Bakery trousers are not only worn by bakers but also by other professionals within the food sector, such as chefs and cooks.
