Anti-freeze jacket
Jackets
Iconic clothing
Some footage is made to make girl’s hearts beat faster. That certainly applies to the handsome James Dean, dressed in a bright red jacket while kissing his love at the campfire. This romantic scene comes from the movie Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and the jacket is the anti-freeze jacket by McGregor. Thanks to the cool actor, who was also a racing driver, the jacket became one of the most iconic garments in movie history. The original model dating from 1949 has been reinterpreted by different designers. Uniquely, this nylon jacket is thin, water and wind resistant, yet lined. It was promoted as the world’s warmest coat for its weight, with the slogan: “Light as a snowflake, yet warm as a volcano.”
