When the oriental camels lose their downy hair in the hot summer months, camel coats are made in the west. Whether or not interwoven with merino wool or cashmere. In pure form, however, the light-weighted fabric is so expensive that nowadays alternative brown or beige fabrics are used more often for camel coats. This classic garment is a warm alternative to the traditional trenchcoat. Style icon Ali MacGraw made the coat world-famous when she wore a version with a huge lapel collar in the movie Love Story (1970). Thanks to the collections of fashion brands like Max Mara and Céline, minimalist designed camel coats are now again very popular.
